An appeal “to jurists of the world” on behalf “of the children of the world” gave Dixon reason to hope, however. The City Montessori School of Lucknow, India, first called on the United Nations to establish a “New World Order” with enforceable international laws. Disappointed by the secretary general’s response, school founder Jagdish Gandhi reached out to the Millenium Summit of world leaders — and was again disappointed. Finally, he appealed to the “world judiciary.”

The 7th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World, the largest ever held, convened in New Delhi in December 2006, to address the interests of “the world’s two billion children and generations yet-to-be-born.”
“I asked myself — how could judges affect things?” Dixon said. “How could these children believe that simple human beings, ... who only have a simple responsibility ... could have an impact?”

“I was not the only one to have such doubts. But despite our doubts, we were there. And we exchanged ideas, and it was said that we can change the realities.”

Dixon also presented a keynote address last year at the invitation-only judicial conference marking the centennial of the American Society of International Law, held at Harvard University.

’There is an Expectation of Judges’
This week, the Panamanian chief justice said violence is not the only threat against people’s lives: Global warming is also a very real threat to humanity.

“I think it has everything to do with what we do as judges,” she said. Judges address “not just how we relate to one another as human beings,” she argued, but also how we relate to the environment and “the possibility of continuing as part of this earth.”

Violations of environmental law are “one of the main reasons for the global warming,” she later explained.
“There is an expectation of judges ... we will be able to see farther, and we will be able to lead the way for a fair, just and peaceful world. ... A better world for our children, our children’s children, our great-grandchildren and children yet to be born.”

 The launch of the website on the eve of the Golden Jubilee year of CMS gives us immense pleasure. For few years I had been thinking that in 2009 when the only school where I educated myself, would be celebrating its Golden Jubilee, would I be able to be there and share my thankfulness and thoughts about my 15 years (1984-1999) with the school? The question is still unanswered and it looks even tougher to do that as now I am half of the world away from Lucknow, here in USA. I am currently into Research in International Relations and Affairs. Fortunately, I got an opportunity to meet our revered Gandhi Sir during my marriage recently in Lucknow. I was so happy to see his happiness that I chose this field as a career. He was happy to realize that I greeted him 'Jai Jagat' and recalled the memories of Decade of Divine Education, One Day I will Change the World, etc. He invited me, my wife and parents to the CMS Office and Studio where I shared my experiences on TV which I think to an extent fulfilled my desire to express my thanks and other thoughts. The website is designed well and I hope I get to read new achievements everyday. The website would inspire people to choose this road laid by Dr. Jagdish Gandhi and aim and work for the causes he and CMS stand for. He has done a tremendous job in giving new meaning to the word 'education' drawing inspirations from our great ancient vedic traditions and also from the modern concepts of holistic education.
